Accurate, consistent, and accessible data is essential for shaping road safety in the next decade. With the Department for Transport’s new strategy now in place, understanding how data is collected and handled nationally will be key to meeting its goals.
Data practices can vary across regions and agencies, and this survey seeks to build a complete picture of the data landscape to better:
- Measure progress against the new Safety Performance Indicators.
- Align data collection and analysis with Safe System principles.
- Target limited resources where they can have the greatest impact.
- Support evidence-based interventions.
- Strenghten collaboration and insight by improving data quality
The Network invites those from professionals across the public sector, including local authorities, police forces, fire and rescue services, and road safety partnerships to take part.
Survey results will be shared at the upcoming Joining the Dots Conference on 3rd March 2026 in Birmingham. The conference provides an opportunity to explore the findings, highlight best practices, and discuss next steps towards taking action. Tickets are still available, and full details, including the agenda, are available on the website.
